Senior Developer

About the role

The Senior Developer reports to the CTO and delivers, with autonomy, the most complex parts of our projects, including the quality of the interface and the user experience, while raising the technical level of the team. Velship works AI-first: everyone uses AI every day to work faster and better, and people stay responsible for the result.

What you will do

• Design and build complex features and end-to-end integrations
• Propose the architecture of the modules you own, with the CTO's approval
• Review colleagues' code and AI-generated code for quality, security and consistency
• Make sure there are tests, technical documentation and good version-control and continuous-delivery practice
• Estimate tasks and flag deadline or scope risks early
• Mentor the mid-level and junior developers
• Support technical contact with clients at project start and during delivery
• Contribute to Velship's own products
• Use AI as an engineering partner and propose, with the CTO, ways to review and validate generated code
• Make sure the interfaces we deliver are polished, usable and consistent with the brand guide, and review the team's UI work

What we look for

• At least 6 years of professional software development, with proven deliveries in production
• Command of modern web development, APIs and databases (for example TypeScript, React or Next.js, Node and SQL); full-stack is a plus
• Knowledge of testing, Git and continuous delivery, and of web security basics (the most common vulnerabilities)
• Experience designing the architecture of systems and modules, and explaining the trade-offs
• Working knowledge of cloud, deployment and monitoring
• Experience working in agile teams and estimating tasks
• Autonomy, the ability to guide colleagues and clear communication
• A degree in Computer Engineering or a related field, or proven equivalent experience
• Daily, proven use of AI in development (generation, refactoring, testing, documentation), with concrete workflows you can demonstrate and the ability to review the output critically
• Fluent Portuguese; technical English

Nice to have

• Experience integrating third-party services, including payment providers
• Solid UI/UX and interface design knowledge, with a portfolio that shows design decisions and not only implementation (highly valued)
