Website, app or WhatsApp: what to build first in Angola

Many owners ask whether they need an app. Often the better question is where your customers already are, and what they need to do when they get there.

Start where your customers already are

If most of your customers already message you on WhatsApp, the first improvement may not be new software at all. It may be a clear way for new customers to find you, and a quick way to start that conversation.

A website is for being found and trusted

A website works for you around the clock. It is where Google, Google Maps and social media send people, and it is where a new customer checks that your business is real.

Build a website first when you want new customers to find you, when you need to explain what you do, or when you want to take bookings and enquiries.

WhatsApp is for conversations

WhatsApp Business is well suited to questions, quotes and follow-up. A good website makes it easy to start that conversation, with a button that opens a chat with the customer's message already written.

An app is for repeated use

An app makes sense when people will use it often, or when it needs phone features such as the camera, location or notifications. If customers would use it once or twice a year, a website usually serves them better.

A simple rule of thumb

  • Want to be found: build a website.
  • Want to talk to customers: use WhatsApp Business, linked from your website.
  • Want people to come back often, or to use the phone's features: consider an app.
  • Repeating the same task by hand: consider automation before new software.
